Justin Gilzene aka CLUB BUM is a Visual Artist from the Bronx, NY, currently residing in Gun Hill Road. As a Pop Conceptual Artist that uses acrylic paints to build bold and resolute textures into his work. Gilzene has also developed his own technique for using acrylics to create hand crafted sculptures. In his works you can see an amalgamation of influences including Pop Culture, a range Historical and Cultural references. Also adding to the depth of his painting is Gilzene's extensive study of his own ancestral heritage. The thematic focus of his artwork covers a variety topics like miseducation, the misconceptions of Black culture in the past, present, & future.
Justine Gilzene has had several Solo Exhibitions throughout New York City including, "BULLIFIED", Art&Hustle (2014), "POP LIFE", Long Gallery Harlem, NY(2015), and "INTRO TO THE MISCONCEPTION" Soho NY (2016). Gilzene has also exhibited works is several group exhibitions in throughout America and Europe, including Art Basel, Miami, FL (2015), August Wilson Center, Pittsburgh, PA, and Chelsea Old Town Hall Gallery, London, UK. Gilzene's artwork appeals to a wide range of collectors from young professionals, to institution like the Harlem Hospital, and elite collections like the Cafritz Art Collection. |
